Hello again! As a farmer, I grow crops for food - not just for me and my family, but for people all around the world. I believe that everyone should have enough food to eat. This is known as 'global food security'.
Today, many people around the world are fortunate enough to have access to a supply of high quality, nutritious food.
They have money available to buy this food and suitable supply chains in place to transport the food (which is often grown
in other parts of the world) to where they live. Unfortunately, this isn't the case for everyone.
Providing food security for these 800 million people, who make up about 11% of the world's population, is one of the most important challenges facing the world today. To feed everyone in the world, we will need to produce more food in the next 35 years than has been produced in the whole of human history.
So far in this badge we have learnt about different agricultural technologies and careers. I believe that if agricultural professionals use these technologies properly, we will be able to improve food security around the world.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a series of ambitions to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity, leading to a better, more world.
